2027 Trips:

Honduras (twice), Peru, El Salvador, and Dominican Republic

In 2027, Wellsprings Ministry is partnering again with Medical Missions Outreach ​(https://medical-outreach.com/) to provide mental health services in four countries: Honduras (Santa Rita & El Progreso), Peru, El Salvador, and Dominican Republic.

The Need:  Access to mental health resources remains limited in many communities throughout Central and South America. Churches frequently serve as the first point of contact for individuals facing grief, trauma, family conflict, anxiety, and other personal struggles. Many pastors and church leaders desire to help but have little formal training in recognizing and responding to these challenges.

Our Approach: The Wellsprings Ministry team provides Christ-centered emotional support, counseling, mental health education, and community outreach while equipping local church leaders with practical tools to care for individuals and families experiencing mental, emotional, and spiritual challenges. For each trip, there are teams of at least four Christian mental health providers. One member provides psychoeducation in Spanish on coping with depression, loss, and anxiety, stress, and trauma. The others use their education and professional experience to first screen for crisis, implement appropriate risk protocols when needed, and/or provide one-on-one brief therapy depending on the presenting need.

Previous Impact: Wellsprings Ministry has partnered with Medical Missions Outreach on nine-trips to-date through Summer 2026, with a Fall 2026 trip to go. We have provided one-on-one counseling and/or mental health education to over 1,500 locals in various impoverished communities in Central and South America.

Community Partners: Through our partnership with Medical Missions Outreach, and their relationships with various local churches abroad, we are able to partner with the Christian leaders in these impoverished communities. 

​​

2027 Budget: The budgeted all-inclusive costs for the mental health teams on each 2027 trip ranges from $8,600 to $11,800. The total budget for 2027 is approximately $50,000.

Outcomes: In 2027, Wellsprings Ministry expects to provide Christian mental health services to at least 500 locals in the various impoverished communities in Central and South America.

Dominican Republic (twice), Honduras, and Peru.

Four teams, of four mental health counselors for each trip, providing "Medically Informed Soul Care" to hundreds of patients. This includes both 1:1 services and group psychoeducation on coping with depression and coping with anxiety.

In 2025, Wellsprings Ministry is partnered again with Medical Missions Outreach (https://medical-outreach.com/) to three countries:

Peru, El Salvador, and Honduras. To-Date through 2025, Wellsprings Ministry has met with over 1,000 global patients for 1:1 brief therapy and group psychoeducation on coping with depression and anxiety.

​HONDURAS

In June 2023 and June 2024, Wellsprings Ministry partnered with Medical Missions Outreach (https://medical-outreach.com/) in Honduras on three different trips. A team of four mental health counselors each time provided "medically informed soul care", where all trips combined, we saw over 500 patients who attended MMO's clinic in El Progreso or Tela, Honduras. We provided 1:1 services and then group psychoeducation on the topics of depression/grief and anxiety/stress. The impact on the lives of these Hondurans was astounding!

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC​

November 2023: Dr. Steiner of Wellsprings Ministry, Inc. presented at an annual conference in the Dominican Republic hosted by Proyecto Samy (http://proyectosamyinc.com/) for parents, caregivers, and professionals who have loved ones with developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her topic was on The Emotional Process for Parents and Caregivers.

November 2022: We partnered with Proyecto Samy in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Steiner of Wellsprings Ministry, Inc. spoke at their 10th year anniversary conference where the topic was COPING.
